Saharanpur, In a large Panchayat in Deoband, Gangdaspur village, a youth of Scheduled Caste was made to do sit-ups by holding his ears. The video of the entire incident went viral on social media. In this case, on the complaint of the youth's sister-in-law, the police have registered a case against seven people. Bhim Army workers have expressed anger over the incident and demanded the immediate arrest of the accused.

Rita, wife of Dharamveer, a resident of Gangdaspur Gudgajpur village, said in the complaint given to the police station that her brother-in-law Mannu works as a labourer. He had worked as a labourer at Lakhan's place in the village two days ago. Her brother-in-law had a dispute with the said person when he asked for the wages. Regarding this matter, five people of Gurjar caste forcibly took her brother-in-law Mannu and father-in-law Ramdas to a circle, saying that they would make a compromise. The above mentioned people not only insulted brother-in-law Mannu by using casteist words in front of the Panchayat, but also beat him and made him do sit-ups by holding his ears in front of the Panchayat. The accused also broadcast the video of the entire incident on the internet media. The police have registered a case against Lakhan, Kailash, Sompal, Captain, Anuj, Yogendra and Rishabh in this matter. Devband Kotwali in-charge Sanjeev Kumar said that a case has been registered against all the named accused in the entire episode. Action will be taken after investigation.
