Imran Masood's major statement on the Ram Mandir donation controversy
He said, "Akhilesh Yadav does not speak without substance."
New Delhi/Saharanpur. Political activity has intensified regarding allegations of financial irregularities concerning the donations made to the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. After Samajwadi Party National President Akhilesh Yadav claimed that donations worth crores of rupees had gone missing, Congress MP Imran Masood has also responded to the issue.
Saharanpur Congress MP Imran Masood stated that Akhilesh Yadav does not make statements without facts. He said, "Akhilesh Yadav must have said something based on facts." "He is speaking vaguely."
**Akhilesh raised questions regarding irregularities in offerings**
Earlier, Kannauj MP and SP chief Akhilesh Yadav had claimed in a post on the social media platform 'X' that a sum of crores of rupees from the Ram Temple offerings was found missing. Describing this as a serious matter concerning the faith of Ram devotees worldwide, he demanded that the court take *suo motu* cognizance of the issue.
Akhilesh Yadav stated that the matter was extremely shameful for the temple trust and that no responsible person had come forward so far to provide a clear answer. He also questioned the state government's silence, terming it suspicious.
**Trust dismissed the allegations**
As the controversy escalated, Champat Rai, General Secretary of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, issued a clarification stating that the Trust undergoes internal audits at regular intervals, involving representatives from both the Trust and the State Bank of India.
He stated that the audit process is currently underway and, so far, no specific irregularities have come to light.
**"If a mistake has been made, Lord Ram will punish": Dinendra Das**
Meanwhile, Dinendra Das—a trustee of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust and Mahant of the Nirmohi Akhara—also responded to the controversy. He said that if anyone has committed a wrongdoing, Lord Ram himself will punish them.
He stated that if any error or irregularity is revealed during the investigation, those responsible will have to face the consequences. He added that the Trust would accept any decision taken by the administration and the government.
**Akhilesh not satisfied with Champat Rai's clarification**
Even after Champat Rai's statement, Akhilesh Yadav maintained his objection. In another post, he remarked that the clarification provided by the Trust was not clear in itself.
The SP chief stated that all Trust members should sit together and provide a public clarification on the entire matter, and that CCTV footage should also be examined to reconcile the figures.
He alleged that the fact it took several hours for a clarification to emerge—and that the response provided was extremely brief—raised several questions. Akhilesh noted that the state government's silence and the Trust... ...and the clarifications being offered are only fueling further suspicion.
The controversy surrounding the Ram Mandir donations has now taken a political turn. While the opposition is demanding transparency and an investigation, the Trust maintains that the audit process is proceeding regularly and that no financial irregularities have come to light so far.
