The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for light rain, lightning and thunder along with strong winds in many districts of Kosi, Seemanchal, Mithilanchal, Tirhut, Champaran, Ang Pradesh. According to the Meteorological Department, an alert of light rain has been issued in many districts of Bihar on 14 and 15 May. The Meteorological Department has appealed to the people to be cautious. At the same time, heat will trouble people in Arwal, Aurangabad, Bhojpur, Buxar, Rohtas, Kaimur. There are chances of wind, lightning and thunder at a speed of 30 to 40 km per hour in many areas including Purnia, Araria, Katihar, Kishanganj, Supaul, Madhepura, Saharsa, Khagaria, Bhagalpur, Banka, Munger, Jamui, Sheikhpura, Begusarai, Samastipur, Darbhanga, Madhubani, Vaishali, Muzaffarpur, Sitamarhi, Shivhar, East Champaran, West Champaran, Gopalganj, Patna, Vaishali, Nawada. There are chances of light to moderate rain in many areas of these districts.

Southwest monsoon continues to advance

The southwest monsoon is advancing as per schedule. Due to its effect, widespread rainfall was recorded in the Nicobar Islands as well as heavy rainfall at some places during the last 24 hours. Favourable conditions continue to prevail for further advance of southwest monsoon into Andaman Sea, south Bay of Bengal and some parts of Andaman and Nicobar Islands till Tuesday. Under its influence, rainfall activity is likely to increase over Nicobar Islands during next 24 hours, turning into widespread rainfall with heavy to very heavy falls at some places.
