New Delhi. Residents of Delhi-NCR are eagerly awaiting the arrival of the monsoon, but there appear to be no immediate signs of relief from the heat and humidity. Despite cloud cover and light rain in some areas, the Southwest Monsoon has not yet reached the national capital. Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued warnings on Wednesday regarding heavy rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds across several states. Additionally, rainfall activity is expected to increase in Uttar Pradesh after June 28.

Alert for heavy rain in these states

The monsoon has become active in Bihar, Jharkhand, Telangana, Odisha, West Bengal, and Chhattisgarh. According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rain is likely on Wednesday in parts of Maharashtra, Northeast India, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim. Torrential rain is also forecast for several locations in the Konkan region.

Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, strong winds, and moderate to heavy rain are predicted for Central Maharashtra. Meanwhile, the Marathwada region is also likely to experience lightning and light to moderate rainfall.

Signs of heavy rain and strong winds in Bihar and Jharkhand

According to the Meteorological Department, Jharkhand, Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim are likely to receive good rainfall between June 24 and June 29. Bihar is expected to experience thunderstorms and strong winds on June 25 and 26. Wind speeds could reach 50 to 60 km/h, with gusts up to 70 km/h possible in some areas.

No immediate relief for Delhi-NCR

Partly cloudy skies are forecast for Delhi-NCR on Wednesday, but there is no likelihood of significant rainfall before June 28. The maximum temperature is expected to hover around 41 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature will remain near normal levels. Under these circumstances, there is little hope for immediate relief from the scorching heat and humidity for the capital's residents. However, dust storms may occur in some areas until June 25.

**Red Alert for Heavy Rain in Mumbai**

The monsoon is now fully active in Mumbai. The Meteorological Department has issued a 'Red Alert' for heavy rainfall in Mumbai and Palghar. A warning has been issued for intense rain over the next three hours, accompanied by the likelihood of lightning and winds blowing at speeds of 30 to 40 km/h.

After a lull of nearly two weeks, the Southwest Monsoon has regained momentum in Maharashtra, and widespread rainfall is expected across most parts of the state in the coming days.

**Intermittent Rain to Continue in Madhya Pradesh**

Scattered rainfall is expected to continue in Madhya Pradesh for the time being. Intermittent rain may occur in the central regions of the state, including Bhopal, while rainfall activity is likely to shift towards the southern and eastern districts in the coming days.
