The "Maa Ka Haal" (Mother's Well-being) Campaign Proves to be a Boon for 4,458 Pregnant Mothers
Shahdol, Under the guidance of Collector Dr. Kedar Singh and the direction of the Chief Executive Officer of the District Panchayat, Mr. Shivam Prajapati, the "Maa Ka Haal" campaign was launched in Shahdol district in January 2026 with the objective of curbing maternal and infant mortality rates.
The aim of this campaign is to provide better healthcare facilities to pregnant mothers and to ensure their regular follow-up. Under this initiative, ANMs (Auxiliary Nurse Midwives) and CHOs (Community Health Officers) posted at the district's Primary and Community Health Centers periodically contact identified pregnant mothers via telephone to inquire about their health status. Treatment is provided as and when required; the campaign is already yielding positive results and is proving to be a true blessing for these pregnant mothers.
Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr. Rajesh Mishra stated that between January and October 2026, a total of 17,069 pregnant mothers in the district were identified for institutional delivery. Under the "Maa Ka Haal" campaign, from January to April, telephone contact was established with 5,936 pregnant mothers suffering from moderate to severe anemia; of these, 3,856 mothers were referred from Primary and Community Health Centers to higher-level hospitals for treatment. Among the 203 pregnant mothers suffering from severe anemia, blood transfusion procedures were carried out for 176 individuals, while 453 out of the 553 pregnant mothers affected by hypertension received appropriate medical treatment. Continuous contact is being maintained with the remaining pregnant mothers to monitor their health status. The "Maa Ka Haal" campaign has emerged as an innovative and commendable initiative by Shahdol district in the direction of ensuring maternal health safety.
