Narayanpur, In the anti-Naxal search operation, on 03/12/2024, a joint party of DRG and BSF left from district Narayanpur to police station Sonpur and Kohkameta border areas of Abujhmad area. From 01 pm yesterday, there were several intermittent encounters between the joint security forces team and the Naxalites. During the encounter, while fighting a fierce battle with the Naxalites, DRG Narayanpur's Head Constable Birendra Kumar Sori, age 36, was martyred on the spot due to serious injury. Martyr jawan Birendra Kumar Sori, a resident of Narharpur in Kanker district of Bastar, joined the Narayanpur district force in 2010 as a constable and was promoted to the post of Head Constable in 2018 for his heroic work in the Naxal operation.

Today at 12:45 pm, the mortal remains of martyr Birendra Kumar Sori were saluted with full respect at Police Line, District Narayanpur. On this sad occasion, IGP Sundar Raj and SP Prabhat Kumar were also present there who paid respectful tribute to the martyr. IGP Sundar Raj said that due to continuous patrolling and search by security forces, Naxalites have come on the backfoot and to hide their frustration, they launch cowardly attacks from hiding. While giving a byte to journalists, IGP Sundar Raj said that this act of Naxalites will be avenged.

After the salute, his funeral ceremony was held in the evening at the martyr's native village Bharimpani Narharpur, District Kanker. In which a large number of villagers and police personnel were present with moist eyes.
