Ahmedabad: In the 23rd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 on Wednesday, Gujarat Titans defeated Rajasthan Royals (GT vs RR) by 58 runs to register their fourth consecutive win this season. Batting first at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Gujarat lost the toss and scored 217 for 4 and then bundled out Rajasthan for 159 in 19.2 overs.

The Gujarat Titans team has reached the first position with 8 points after four consecutive wins in five matches. At the same time, Rajasthan has suffered its third defeat in five matches this season.

Chasing the huge target of 218 runs given by Gujarat, the Rajasthan team lost two wickets at a score of 12 runs. After this, the team kept losing wickets at regular intervals and then could score only 159 runs. Shimron Hetmyer scored the highest 52 runs for Rajasthan.

Hetmyer hit four fours and three sixes in 32 balls. At the same time, captain Sanju Samson scored 41 and Riyan Parag scored 26 runs. In bowling for Gujarat, Prasidh Krishna took three wickets, Rashid Khan and R Sai Kishore took two wickets each while Mohammad Siraj, Arshad Khan and Kulwant Khelroliya took one wicket each. Earlier, thanks to the half-century of Sai Sudarshan (82 runs), the Gujarat Titans team managed to score 217 runs for six wickets. Sudarshan scored the best score of this season with eight fours and three sixes while facing 53 balls. This was his third half-century innings of this season.

For Gujarat Titans, Jos Buttler and M Shahrukh Khan contributed 36-36 runs while Rahul Tewatia contributed an unbeaten 24 runs. After captain Shubman Gill (02) was dismissed cheaply on Jofra Archer's inswinger, Sudarshan and Butler laid the foundation for a good score by sharing 80 runs in 47 balls for the second wicket.

Mahish Teekshna (two wickets for 54 runs) ended this partnership by getting former England captain Butler out LBW. Rajasthan Royals bowlers tried to put pressure in the middle overs but then Shahrukh Khan (20 balls, four fours, two sixes) increased the run rate by hitting brilliant shots on Tushar Deshpande and then Teekshna.

Shahrukh hit a six and two fours on consecutive balls off Teekshna in the 14th over but fell prey to the same bowler. Sherfane Rutherford raised the enthusiasm of the audience by hitting a skyscraper six at long on on the very first ball as soon as he came. But in the next over, he got caught by wicketkeeper Sanju Samson on a wide ball by Sandeep Sharma and returned to the pavilion.

Sudarshan got a reprieve on the score of 81 but he was out on Deshpande's ball. Deshpande took two wickets for 53 runs. Rashid Khan contributed 12 runs in four balls with a four and a six. Rahul Tewatia scored an unbeaten 24 runs in 12 balls with two fours and two sixes to take the team to this score.
