Tech giant Google has been fined crores of rupees. The company has been fined US$5 billion by a California court. This fine has been imposed on the company on the allegation of wrongly storing the data of the users. Google has been accused of storing users' private browsing data. One user alleged that the company also stores the search history of private browsing mode ie incognito mode.

The user said that the company tracks internet browsing activity even in incognito mode with the help of Google cookies, analytics and tools. According to TheVerge's report, US California court judge Yoan Gonzalez Rodgers cited the Chrome Privacy Note, Incognito Splash Screen, Privacy Policy and Search and Private Browsing Help page to explain how users' data is stored in incognito mode. Could The judge also rejected Google's claim that it does not collect any user's data in privacy mode.

The company denied the user's claim

Google spokesperson said that we do not consider the user's claim to be correct. The spokesperson said that people can do private browsing in the incognito mode given in Chrome. It does not store any kind of data or history. The spokesperson said that we have already told that every time you turn on the tab in private browsing mode, some information can be collected based on the activity done during that session.

Google was sued in this regard in 2020. During the hearing, the judge said that Google stores regular and private browsing data of Google users in the same log. The court told that the company used this mixed log to send ads to the user. The judge also said in his decision that the fine will not cause any financial loss to the company. In this lawsuit, a fine of $ 5 billion was demanded on behalf of the petitioner.
