Good news for Maruti car buyers
After booking the car, now you will not have to wait for months for delivery
Maruti Suzuki India occupies about 50 percent of the country's auto market. That is, half of the cars sold in the country are of Maruti. There are people from the city to the village who buy Maruti cars. However, after Corona, people have to wait a long time for the delivery of Maruti's vehicle. This is because of the lack of chip used in the vehicle. Due to this, the waiting period in Maruti vehicles has reached up to a year. However, now there is good news. The company has found another way to ease the chip crisis. Maruti is trying to buy electronics components from multiple sources. Along with this, the company is also trying to reduce the use of certain types of chips in its cars. It is believed that in the coming time, the delivery of the vehicle will be done on time. Also, it will help in ending the waiting period. The company had lost production of around 1.7 lakh units in the last financial year due to chip (semiconductor) shortage.
The company is trying to reduce the need for chip
Rahul Bharti, executive officer (corporate affairs), Maruti Suzuki India, said in the analyst call, “Chip shortage is a global problem. It is affecting different models, different companies, different modules in different ways. All our efforts are on streamlining the supply from multiple sources.” He added that the company is trying to reduce the chip requirement in some models/trims. “If a semiconductor is not required very much in a version of a model, we try to remove it. This will reduce our semiconductor consumption. Apart from talks at the global level, we are making all kinds of efforts. However, despite this, the supply side issues remain." Asked about the company's position in the current financial year, he said, "We don't have an outlook for the full year, but at least the first quarter will be tough and Broadly, uncertainty will remain.
Increased use of semiconductors in the automobile industry
Semiconductors are silicon chips used for control and 'memory' in various other electronic products, from vehicles, computers and cellphones. The introduction of features such as Bluetooth connectivity and driver-assist has increased the use of semiconductors in the automotive industry globally. Responding to a question, Bharti said the strong hybrid technology introduced in the Grand Vitara could be used in many other models. He said, “We have received a lot of positive feedback regarding this. We want to bring it to more models."
