Shajapur, State level Asmita Mahila League of Mardani Sports Competition was organized under Khelo India in Shajapur city. More than 250 girls from different districts of the state participated in this sports competition. In this one-day competition organized at Gandhi Hall, the girls displayed their fighting skills brilliantly with the help of sticks. The girls were selected by giving points on the basis of their performance.
President of Estadu Akhara, Trishalanandan Jain said that the Akhara system has been prevalent in India since ancient times. By reviving it through this game, girls and women are getting to learn self-defense skills and the Prime Minister and the Central Government are trying to give it a new identity by promoting this game. This will prove to be a big step towards women empowerment. On the occasion of organizing the state level sports competition, Women and Child Development Officer Neelam Chauhan, Saudamini Jhala, social worker Sangeeta Sharma, journalist Ajit Parashar and sports trainers etc. were present.
