Giriraj Singh furious over Murshidabad violence and opposition to Waqf Bill
Warned Mamata and Tejashwi
Begusarai, Union Minister and Begusarai MP Giriraj Singh today fiercely targeted West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Bihar Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav. He slammed both the leaders over the violent incidents against the Waqf Bill 2025 in Murshidabad, West Bengal. Giriraj accused the Mamata government of failing to maintain law and order and accused Tejashwi of ignoring the interests of Pasmanda Muslims by opposing the Waqf Bill.
The protest against this bill in Murshidabad district of West Bengal took a violent turn. The protesters tried to block National Highway 12, which was stopped by stone pelting and arson on the police. Several police vehicles were set on fire, and many people, including more than a dozen policemen, were injured in this violence. The police had to resort to lathicharge and tear gas to control the situation.
On this very issue, while addressing a public meeting in Begusarai, Union Minister Giriraj Singh launched a scathing attack on Mamata Banerjee. He said, “The violence and anarchy in Murshidabad is the result of Mamata Banerjee's failed policies. In the name of Waqf Bill, trains were stopped, police were attacked, and government property was damaged. Mamata ji teaches law to others, but why can't she maintain peace in her own state?”
Giriraj Singh did not spare Bihar's Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav either. He hit back at Tejashwi's statement in which he had said that if his government comes to power, the Waqf Bill will be 'thrown in the dustbin'. Giriraj said, “Tejashwi Yadav wants to snatch the rights of Pasmanda Muslims and poor women. The Waqf Bill ensures transparency and justice for poor Muslims, but Tejashwi only sees vote bank politics. His government is not going to come, yet he is dreaming.” Giriraj claimed that this bill has been passed by the Parliament and no one can stop it.
