He was the Chief Minister 5 times; said goodbye to the world at the age of 89
Former Haryana Chief Minister and Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) Chief Om Prakash Chautala died on Friday. He breathed his last at his residence at the age of 89. Chautala was unwell for the past few days. Om Prakash Chautala played an important role in the politics of the state, he also held responsibility as the Chief Minister of the state. Chautala has been identified as a strong leader. He is counted among the influential leaders of Haryana. He was also in the news for passing the 12th examination in 2022. According to the information received, the body of OP Chautala will be brought to his ancestral village in Sirsa and will be kept for the last darshan of the people. After this, he will be cremated in the village itself. There will be 3 days of state mourning in Haryana on the death of the former Chief Minister. There will be 3 days of state mourning from 20-22 December and a one-day holiday in the state on 21 December. No government entertainment programs will be celebrated in the state from 20-22 December. The former Chief Minister will be cremated with state honors on December 21.

Union Minister and former Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal's reaction has come to the fore on Chautala's death. He wrote on the social media platform X, "Received the sad news of the demise of former Haryana Chief Minister, INLD chief Om Prakash Chautala. His important contribution to the development of the state will always be remembered. In this hour of grief, my condolences are with the bereaved family. I pray to God to give a place to the departed soul in his lotus feet. Om Shanti!
Five-time Haryana CM
OP Chautala was the eldest son of former Deputy PM of India Devi Lal. He has been the CM of Haryana five times. He formed his own party after the Lok Sabha elections in the year 1996. Om Prakash Chautala has two sons, Ajay Chautala and Abhay Chautala. Both of them also have two sons each. Ajay Chautala's sons are named Dushyant Chautala and Digvijay Chautala.
When did he become CM
Om Prakash Chautala was born on January 1, 1935 in Chautala village in Sirsa, Haryana. He has been the CM of Haryana five times. Chautala became CM for the first time on December 2, 1989. He became the Chief Minister for the second time and remained on this post till 22 May 1990. On 12 July 1990, Chautala took oath as Chief Minister for the second time, when the then Chief Minister Banarasi Das Gupta was removed from the post within two months.
However, Chautala also had to resign from the post after five days. On 22 April 1991, Chautala took over as CM for the third time, but after two weeks the central government imposed President's rule in the state.
