Saharanpur, The sugarcane crushing season has ended long ago. Five sugar mills of the district still owe Rs 210 crore to farmers for sugarcane price. District Sugarcane Officer Sushil Kumar today said that Rs 138 crore is due on Ganganoli sugar mill alone. Rs 36.03 crore is due on Gagalhadi sugar mill, Rs 21.39 crore on Todarpur sugar mill, Rs 7.68 crore on Bidvi and Rs 7.04 crore on Shermau. Farmers of these sugar mill areas expressed strong resentment over not getting sugarcane price payment. Many farmers said that they are facing various problems due to financial crisis. Recently, the directors of Shamli sugar mill were also detained by the administration. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath could not get the dues worth crores paid before the crucial Lok Sabha elections. Due to which BJP had to bear the loss in the elections. Farmers' displeasure is also one of the reasons for the fall in voting percentage. The government appeared helpless in front of the powerful sugar mill group.
