Delhi, Fit India Cycling Drive was launched at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in Delhi. India's Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya was also present at the event. He launched the event on Tuesday. The real motive of this initiative is to promote cycling as a sustainable and healthy mode of transport. During the event, more than 500 cyclists participated in a three-kilometer long journey from the stadium to Raisina Hills. On this occasion, Mandaviya was accompanied by many prominent players like Minister of State for Sports Raksha Khadse, MP Tejasvi Surya, Paris Paralympics bronze medalist Simran Sharma, Commonwealth Games gold medalist Neetu Ghanghas and Asian Games bronze medalist Preeti Pawar.

Special arrangements for cycling enthusiasts
Mandaviya launched the program as Fit India Cycling Tuesday, but it will be held on Sunday for cycling enthusiasts, and will be named 'Sunday on Cycle'. He informed that doctors, teachers, journalists, corporate professionals and youth will join the one-hour cycle ride on Sunday. The initiative aims to promote cycling across the country and it helps in reducing pollution, as well as it also raises environmental awareness.

What did the Sports Minister say?

The event was organized in collaboration with the Fit India initiative of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Cycling Federation of India, MY India and various sports authorities. The event saw simultaneous cycling competitions at more than 1,000 locations across the country, in which more than 50,000 people participated. These competitions held at the Regional Centers of the Sports Authority of India, National Centers of Excellence (NCOE) and Khelo India Centers (KIC) made it even more important. Regarding cycling, Mandaviya said that it not only promotes the environment, but it is also an inspiration to adopt a healthy lifestyle. He informed that cycling improves physical fitness and is suitable for people of all ages.
