Sports budget increased by so many crores
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Union Budget in the Parliament. During this, the Finance Minister made many big announcements. The budget is full of happiness for the middle class. People whose annual income will be Rs 12 lakh. They will not have to pay any tax. After this, the Finance Minister also opened the treasury in the budget for sports and the sports budget has increased by Rs 350 crore since last time. The biggest part of the sports budget has been given to the 'Khelo India' program.
'Khelo India' benefited a lot
The government's flagship scheme 'Khelo India' to discover and promote talented players at the grassroots level got the most benefit in the Union Budget presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. A huge increase of Rs 351.98 crore has been announced in the allocation for sports, the biggest part of which will go to the Khelo India program. This important scheme has been allocated Rs 1,000 crore for the financial year 2025-26. This is Rs 200 crore more than the grant of Rs 800 crore for 2024-25.
A total of Rs 3,794.30 crore has been allocated to the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. This amount is Rs 351.98 crore more than last year. This increase is more keeping in mind that there is no major sporting event like Olympics, Commonwealth or Asian Games next year. The amount set aside for assistance to the National Sports Federations has also been marginally increased from Rs 340 crore to Rs 400 crore.
India's eyes are on hosting the Olympics
India has recently made a lot of progress in the field of sports. Indian players have waved the tricolor in every corner of the world and raised the name of India. Indian players won a total of 6 medals in Paris Olympics 2024. There were many players who finished fourth and could not win medals. Otherwise, India's medal count could have been higher. India is preparing an ambitious bid to host the 2036 Olympic Games. India has submitted a letter of intent to the International Olympic Committee for this. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also talked about hosting the Olympics several times.
