Former Union Minister of State and senior RJD leader Md. Ali Ashraf Fatmi held a meeting with the Mahagathbandhan leaders in Darbhanga Parishad regarding the proposed Bihar bandh on July 9. He appealed to the common people to make the bandh successful and said that this bandh is the voice of the people and is a question related to the rights of crores of voters of Bihar. Fatmi alleged that large-scale irregularities are being done in the name of special revision of the voter list before the assembly elections in Bihar. He said that this is a direct conspiracy to deprive the weaker and backward classes of the right to vote.

He said that will crores of people of Bihar not be able to choose the MLA or Chief Minister of their choice? The pressure of the central government on the Election Commission is clearly visible. The decisions taken by the commission are not democratic and fair. The former minister raised the question that when the Lok Sabha elections have already been held in 2024 and the public has cast their vote, then now those voters will have to prove again whether they are the right voters or not?

He said sarcastically that if the voter of Bihar is fake, then the government of the whole country should resign and hold fresh elections. The purpose of the revision is only to affect the Bihar elections. If the voter list had to be corrected, then it should have been done simultaneously in the whole country. Why only in Bihar? Fatmi also raised questions on the functioning of the Election Commission. He said that it is not possible to revise the voter list on such a large scale within a month and the Election Commission itself does not have any logical answer to this.
