FASTag's annual pass is being implemented from midnight of 14th August

The government implemented FASTag so that people do not have unnecessary delay in paying toll tax at toll plazas while passing through national and state highways. Under this, your vehicle's tax was deducted from the fastag in a few seconds at the toll gate itself. People were also upset about frequent recharge and toll tax deduction. But, now this problem of yours will end with the annual pass. From 15 August 2025 (from 12 midnight on 14 August) the annual pass rule of FASTag is going to be implemented across the country. By recharging only Rs 3000, you will be able to cross the toll plaza without stopping for the whole year or 200 trips (whichever is earlier).

What is FASTag, where is it applied?
FASTag is an electronic sticker. It has a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) chip. It is pasted on the windscreen of the vehicle. Fastag is linked to the bank account of the vehicle owner. If you want, you can also keep money in the Fastag wallet. With the help of Fastag, toll tax is paid without stopping at the toll plaza.

What is the purpose of bringing the annual pass?

The purpose of the government and NHAI is to improve the toll system. Fastag's annual pass will help in this work. This will reduce the line of vehicles at the toll plaza. People will use digital payment more. Fights between toll workers and drivers will end.

Will this annual pass work at every toll plaza?

FASTag's annual pass will currently work only at the toll plazas of national highways across the country. That is, if you are going from Delhi to Mumbai or Chennai to Bengaluru... then this pass will be useful. It has not yet been added for state highways or local tolls. Meaning it is not even for Meerut Expressway and Yamuna Expressway.

How many national highway tolls are there in the country?
According to the records of the National Highway Authority of India's (NHAI) Toll Information System, there are a total of 1057 NHAI toll plazas in the country from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, which means that your Rs 3000 pass will work at all these toll plazas, out of which about 78 toll plazas are in Andhra Pradesh itself.
