Under the direction of Shajapur Superintendent of Police, Mrs. Priyanka Shukla, strict action is being taken against gambling and betting activities in the district. In this regard, under the guidance of Additional Superintendent of Police, Mr. Ghanshyam Malviya, and Sub-Divisional Officer (Police), Shajapur, Mr. Ajay Kumar Mishra, a police team was formed by Sub-Inspector Arvind Singh Tomar, Station Incharge of Mohan Barodiya.

Operation Details

On the night of July 20-21, 2026, Sub-Inspector G.P. Chabey received credible information from an informant that some individuals were gambling with cards, betting on monetary gain, near a well located in the forest of village Banbor.

Upon receiving the information, the Station Incharge immediately formed a police team and raided the location. Seeing the police, the gambling men tried to flee, but were surrounded and apprehended on the spot.

During interrogation, the accused revealed their names as follows:

1. Lalit Nath, father Ramprasad, age 42, resident of village Karju.

2. Devi Singh, father Jeetmal, age 36, resident of Gopalpura, Sarangpur police station.

3. Rakesh Khati, father Shivnarayan, age 40, resident of village Sarasodia.

4. Prem Narayan, father Rameshwar, age 50, resident of village Karju.

5. Laxmi Chand alias Sheru Singh, father Hari Singh, age 48, resident of village Karju.

Contraband Seized

Police seized:

₹65,100 in cash,
₹52 playing cards,
₹1 motorcycle,
₹1 old Alto car,
₹5 mobile phones

from the possession of the accused. The total estimated value of the seized contraband is ₹300,000.

A case was registered against all the accused under Section 13 of the Madhya Pradesh Public Gambling Act, and legal action was taken.
