Serbian star tennis player Novak Djokovic won the gold medal in the men's singles event at the Paris Olympics 2024. He avenged his defeat at Wimbledon 2024 by defeating Carlos Alcaraz of Spain. Djokovic defeated Alcaraz 7-6(3), 7-6(2) in a thrilling match. In this way, Djokovic won the Olympic gold medal for the first time in his career. At the same time, Alcaraz missed out on winning his first Olympic medal. Djokovic had earlier won a bronze medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Before winning against bronze medalist Lorenzo Musetti of Italy in the semi-finals at the current Games, Djokovic had lost all three of his Olympic semi-finals. Djokovic lost to Rafael Nadal in Beijing in 2008, Andy Murray in London in 2012 and Alexander Zverev in Tokyo three years ago. All of them later won the gold medal. Djokovic is the oldest man to win a tennis singles gold since 1988 and prevented 21-year-old Alcaraz of Spain from becoming the youngest gold medallist.
