Saharanpur, District Magistrate Manish Bansal has issued advisory to protect the general public from the heat wave in the summer season. He said that people can keep themselves and their families safe from the heat and heat wave by taking some precautions in the scorching heat. He said that in the summer season, whether it is a human or an animal or a pet, everyone needs special care. He said that special care should be taken of children and the elderly. He said that according to the advisory issued by the Meteorological Department, a rapid increase in daily temperature has been predicted in the coming days. At present, the conditions in the district remain favorable for heat wave. The Meteorological Department has expressed the possibility that this year there will be more heat wave and hot winds in summer as compared to last year. Therefore, the District Disaster Management Authority, Saharanpur has issued some necessary guidelines to protect the citizens of the district from heat wave/hot winds. Drink as much water as possible, drink water even if you are not thirsty, wear light coloured sweat absorbent clothes, use sunglasses, umbrella, cap and slippers, if you work in open, cover your head, face, hands and feet with wet cloth and use umbrella, carry drinking water while travelling, use ORS, homemade beverages like lassi, rice water (maad), lemonade, buttermilk etc. to compensate for the lack of water in the body, recognize the symptoms of heat stroke, heat rash, heat cramps like weakness, dizziness, headache, nausea, sweating, fainting etc., if you feel faint or sick, seek medical advice immediately, keep your house cool, use curtains, doors etc. and open them in the evening/night to cool the house and rooms, use wet fans Use clothes and take frequent baths, keep/make available cold drinking water at the workplace, caution workers to avoid direct sunlight,
Try to do/make others do strenuous work in cool time, increase the duration and frequency of rest when outside the home, extra attention should be paid to pregnant women and sick workers.
What not to do:-
Do not leave children in parked vehicles, avoid going out in the sunlight between 12 and 3 pm, do not wear dark coloured heavy and tight clothes, do not do strenuous work when the outside temperature is high, avoid cooking in extreme heat, open doors and windows to cool the kitchen area, avoid consuming alcohol, tea, coffee, carbonated soft drinks etc. as it causes dehydration in the body.
