Many houses were completely destroyed due to sudden flood in a small drain in Thunag village of Seraj assembly constituency of Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh. So much water and debris has entered the houses that the conditions there are not suitable for living. The affected families are forced to take shelter in relief camps and relatives' houses. Apart from some clothes, they have nothing left now. In this village adjoining Thunag market, such devastation started between 11:30 pm to 12:00 pm on the night of June 30, which no one had even imagined. According to the people, this drain overflowed due to heavy rain that night and many concrete houses turned into debris.

Debris up to the second floor
The state of the disaster was such that the debris reached the second floor of many houses. Huge trees and heavy stones trapped between the broken walls clearly show how the flood caused devastation. The life savings of many families were buried in the rubble in a matter of minutes. Disaster-affected local residents Nanda Devi and Kanta Devi said that their entire family had been living in this village for decades. That night when everyone was sleeping, suddenly a loud roaring sound started coming from the drain and in a matter of minutes water and debris entered the house. We did not get a chance to understand anything, we just ran to save our lives. Today we have nothing left except the clothes to cover our bodies.

25 to 30 people completely homeless

Jamna Devi, who has been living in this village for the last 27 years, said that her husband is a kidney patient. The roads were closed due to the flood, now the road is open and today he has been taken to Jalandhar for treatment. This is a double blow for us. Our house was destroyed and there is the worry of treatment of my husband who is suffering from illness. In this disaster, about 25 to 30 people from a total of 5 families have become completely homeless.
