Steps taken because of AAP
New Delhi, In view of the protests by Aam Aadmi Party against the arrest of Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi Metro has taken a big step. Delhi Metro has also closed one gate of Patel Chowk, Central Secretariat and one gate of Lok Kalyan Marg for entry-exit. DMRC said that this step has been taken on the suggestion of Delhi Police.
DMRC issued a statement saying, 'Due to security reasons, entry/exit at Lok Kalyan Marg Metro Station, Gate No. 3 of Patel Chowk Metro Station and Gate No. 5 of Central Secretariat Metro Station will remain closed till further notice.'
Let us tell you that Delhi Government Minister Gopal Rai had announced a plan to gherao the Prime Minister's residence on Tuesday against the arrest of Kejriwal. Rai had also said that a big demonstration would be held at the nationwide level.
Police issued traffic advisory
In view of this protest by AAP, the police has tightened security in many areas of the national capital including 7, Lok Kalyan Marg. A Delhi Traffic Police official said that traffic in New Delhi and Central Delhi areas may be affected due to the protest.
Meanwhile, Delhi Traffic Police has arranged seven diversion points for smooth movement of vehicles in view of the protests. An official said, 'In view of the protest, people should avoid passing through Kamal Ataturk Marg, Safdarjung Road, Akbar Road and Teen Murti Marg on Tuesday.'
Let us tell you that the Enforcement Directorate had arrested Kejriwal on March 21 in a money laundering case related to the now canceled excise policy. He is in the agency's custody till Thursday. The central agency has accused the national convenor of AAP of demanding bribe from liquor traders in return for giving benefits. The ED has also accused Kejriwal of being the "mastermind and main conspirator" of the now scrapped policy in connivance with AAP leaders, ministers and other persons.
