Datia By-election: Congress takes lead in sixth round

The results of the first round of counting for the Datia Assembly by-election have been announced. The BJP has taken an early lead, securing a 909-vote lead over the Congress. According to the first round, the BJP has secured 4,441 votes, the Congress 3,532, and the Azad Samaj Party 2,117. Following these initial trends, all eyes are now on the next round of counting, where the contest could change direction.

Counting for the Datia Assembly by-election has begun with the counting of postal ballots. A total of 451 postal ballots are being counted at Table No. 21. Initial trends are expected to emerge after the postal ballot counting is complete. Following this, the counting of votes recorded in EVMs will begin, gradually shaping the picture of the contest between the candidates.

Counting for the Datia Assembly by-election will begin at 8 am on Monday at the Government Polytechnic College. As per the prescribed procedure, postal ballots will be counted first, while EVM votes will begin at 8:30 am. A total of 20 counting tables have been set up, where all votes will be counted in 15 phases. Approximately 350 officers and employees have been deployed to ensure smooth functioning of the entire system. Initial trends are expected to emerge after 9 am, approximately an hour after the counting begins.
