CSK lost five consecutive matches for the first time in IPL history

Chennai, Chennai Super Kings had to face a humiliating defeat as soon as MS Dhoni became the captain in IPL 2025. Dhoni came out to captain CSK for the first time in the 18th season of the league and the team lost badly at home against Kolkata Knight Riders.
After losing the toss at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, Chennai team came out to bat first and could score only 103 runs for nine wickets in 20 overs. Kolkata achieved this target in 10.1 overs with 8 wickets remaining. This is Kolkata Knight Riders' third win in six matches. At the same time, Chennai has faced its fifth defeat in six matches and three consecutive defeats for the first time.

KKR won the toss and decided to bowl after which its experienced spinner Sunil Narayan took three wickets for 13 runs while Harshit Rana and Varun Chakraborty got two wickets each. Nothing went right for CSK from the beginning.
Only eight fours and one six could be hit in the entire innings. Shivam Dubey was the top scorer with an unbeaten 31 off 29 balls while Vijay Shankar scored 29 runs. Apart from these, only two other batsmen of CSK could reach double figures.
