Satna, youth are the main agents of change in any country and society. History is witness to the fact that till date, whatever revolutionary changes have taken place in the world, be they social, political, economic, cultural and scientific, youth have been their main base. India also has a rich history of youth. In ancient times, from Adiguru Shankaracharya to Gautam Buddha and Mahavir Swami, in their youth itself, Acharya Kautilya had taken the lead in religious and social reform. Young Chandragupta Maurya was made his main instrument. During the Renaissance period, young thinkers like Vivekananda along with Raja Rammohan Roy, Swami Dayanand Saraswati led the religion and social reform movement. Swami Vivekananda was famous for his powerful speech style and On the basis of scholarship, he had hoisted the victory flag of Indian religion and philosophy. After his powerful speech, the people of the western imperialist countries were also amazed by the Indian knowledge tradition. In the modern times, young revolutionaries like Tipu Sultan, Rani Laxmibai, Bhagat Singh, Chandrashekhar Azad and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose had soured the British. Many young leaders have also contributed in making the movements of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi successful and in giving India independence under his leadership. If we talk about the seven-decade history of contemporary India since independence, then many movements and changes that have taken place during this period have been led by the youth. Young shoulders took up the responsibility of making India self-reliant in food production (Green Revolution) to making it nuclear power. Computer revolution and new economic policy were also the product of young minds. If we talk about present India, it is the youngest country in the world. According to population statistics, in India, people up to twenty-five years of age constitute fifty percent of the total population, while people up to thirty-five years of age constitute sixty-five percent of the total population. This is the reason why it is being looked upon with hope across the world and is being predicted to be the superpower of the twenty-first century. Only the young population can provide impetus to the progress of the country. As former President of India Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam had said that we have immense wealth in the form of youth resources and if this section of the society is empowered then we can very soon achieve the goal of becoming a superpower.
Same is the situation in the North-East. The rapidly spreading web of drug addiction in the country is also engulfing the youth, in which the example of Punjab is prominent. In such a difficult situation, the youth are in great need of appropriate guidance. There is a need to utilize the youth power of India in positive works. There is a need for such sources of inspiration and guides, who can show positive and better path to the young generation. People consider unemployment as one of the reasons for youth getting misguided and going on the wrong path. But the youth will have to change their mentality that government job is the only source of employment. There is a general belief in Indian society that a government job is the measure of success in life. People of the society have to change this perception. India's youth are making waves across the world in the field of science and technology, but due to brain drain, we are not able to take advantage of them. We have to understand that the country will flourish only with the progress of the youth. The day the participation of youth increases from politics to administration, from society to science, from sports to business, the future of the country will be that much brighter.
