Corona created a stir in the world
52% increase in the number of patients
Geneva, Corona virus has once again started taking the world under its grip. However, a slight decline has been seen in the cases. The World Health Organization (WHO) said in its latest update that the number of deaths due to this virus has decreased by 8 percent compared to the previous 28-day period with more than 3,000 new deaths.
WHO said that the number of new Covid patients has increased by 52 percent during the last four weeks. The global health body has termed it as a 'variant of interest' amid the rapidly increasing cases of 'JN.1' form of corona virus. According to WHO, it now belongs to the BA.2.86 lineage associated with the Global Initiative on Sharing All Influenza Data (GISAID).
Recently, cases of 'JN.1' variant have been reported in many countries and cases of this variant are increasing in the world. A case of this nature has also come to light in India. According to India's Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, cases of 'JN.1' have been found in the US, China, Singapore and India. Seven cases of this nature have been reported in China.
752 new cases of Covid-19 in India, four patients died
On the other hand, 752 new cases of Covid-19 were registered in India in the last 24 hours and the number of patients under treatment has increased to 3,420. This is the highest number of cases of corona virus infection reported in a single day in the country since May 21, 2023.
According to the data updated by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare till 8 am on Saturday, the total number of Covid-19 cases reported so far in the country is 4.50 crore (4,50,07,964). Due to the death of four people due to infection in the last 24 hours in the country, the death toll due to this epidemic has increased to 5,33,332.
