Shahdol, The District Congress Committee of Shahdol, under the leadership of District President Ajay Awasthi, held a vigorous protest in front of the Collectorate premises to protest the alleged injustice being meted out to students across the country and the police's forceful actions against students peacefully protesting at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, including against Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, State Congress President Jitu Patwari, and other Congress leaders. Following the protest, a memorandum addressed to the President was submitted to the district administration, demanding action against the culprits and protection of students' rights.

District President Ajay Awasthi stated that students and citizens from across the country were holding peaceful protests, demonstrations, and hunger strikes at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi recently, demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The police's use of force against students and youth who were expressing their views democratically is extremely unfortunate, inhumane, and against democratic values. They stated that many students and protesters were seriously injured in this action, which reflects the government's intolerant mindset.

They stated that senior Congress leaders, including the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, were strongly raising the voice of students both in Parliament and on the streets. However, instead of addressing the students' problems, the government treated the public representatives standing in their support with indecent and barbaric behavior. This is a direct attack on the very spirit of democracy and a matter of serious concern for the country's democratic traditions.

Congress leaders stated that the Constitution of India grants every citizen the right to peacefully protest, demonstrate, and express their demands. If students raise their voices regarding issues related to their future and the education system, resorting to lathicharge and repressive action against them instead of listening to them is unbecoming of any democratic government. The government should resolve students' problems through dialogue, not attempt to suppress their voices through force.

Through the memorandum, the Congress party demanded that the President conduct an impartial investigation into the alleged brutality against students and civilians, ensure strict action against the guilty officials, and take necessary steps to protect the democratic rights of students. It also urged the central government to take sensitive decisions on serious issues concerning the future of students, ensuring the future of the nation's youth is secure.

Congress leaders stated that the future of the nation lies with its youth and students. If attempts are made to suppress their voices by force, the Congress Party will stand with them democratically and continue to fight to protect their rights.
