Congress leader Praful Vinodrao Gudade has challenged the election of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in the assembly elections in the Bombay High Court. In the 2024 Maharashtra Assembly elections, Gudade lost to Fadnavis from Nagpur South-West seat by 39,710 votes.

On behalf of Gudade, his lawyer AB Moon filed a petition in the High Court on Saturday. In this, he has claimed procedural lapse in Fadnavis' victory. He said that many mandatory provisions were violated during the election. He has urged the court to declare Fadnavis' election invalid.

Lawyer Pawan Dahat said that former minister and Congress leader Yashomati Thakur, who was defeated from Teos seat, five of his party colleagues and an NCP (SP) leader have also filed similar petitions. The court did not accept any of these eight petitions.
