Mahashivratri festival will be celebrated on Wednesday. Nath temples of Bareilly are being decorated grandly for this. Devotees are also busy in preparations for the worship of Lord Shiva. According to Pandit Mukesh Mishra, Mahashivratri is celebrated on Chaturdashi Vyapini night in Falgun Krishna Paksha. This time Chaturdashi Tithi is starting from 11:07 am on Wednesday and it will remain till 8:54 am on Thursday.
Mahashivratri is worshipped in Nishith Kaal. This time Budhaditya Yoga, Malavya Rajyoga and Trigrahi Yoga are being formed on Mahashivratri. Venus, the giver of wealth, will be in its exalted sign Pisces. In these auspicious occasions, all the wishes of the devotees will be fulfilled by Shivaarchan.
According to mythological beliefs, Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati were married on Mahashivratri. According to Shiva Purana, Lord Shiva first appeared in the form of Shivling on the day of Mahashivratri.

First prahar of the night: from 6:29 pm to 9:34 pm.
Second prahar of the night: from 9:34 pm to 12:39 pm.
Third prahar of the night: from 12:39 pm to 3:45 am.
Fourth prahar of the night: from 3:45 am to 6:50 am.
Method of worship
Pandit Vineet Shastri told that on the day of Mahashivratri, wear white clothes after bathing. Offer water to Lord Surya. Perform Abhishek of Shivling with water, milk and Gangajal. Offer flowers, Belpatra and plum etc. on Shivling. Light a ghee lamp and perform Aarti. Recite Shiv Chalisa. Offer special things to Lord Shiva and distribute Prasad. Chant Mahamrityunjaya Mantra.
Shivalayas are being decorated for Mahashivratri
On the day of Mahashivratri, devotees will start thronging the city's Trivatinath temple, Vankhandi Nath temple, Alakhnath temple, Tapeshwarnath temple, Maninath temple, Dhopeshwar Nath temple, Pashupatinath temple from the morning itself. The temple committee members have intensified preparations for this. The Trivatinath temple has been decorated with colourful flowers and lights.
Apart from the temple, two parking lots have been made outside for the devotees. The temple's Shivalaya has also been decorated. Preparations have also been made at the Tapeshwarnath temple. The intersections have been decorated with colourful lights, garlands and flowers. Jalabhishek will begin at the temple at three in the morning.
