The department said that the wind speed is likely to be less than eight km per hour in the morning and there is a possibility of light fog or mist in the morning. By afternoon, the wind speed is expected to gradually increase to 12 to 14 km per hour, which will again come from the northwest direction. The IMD said that by evening and night the speed will decrease to less than 10 km per hour and fog is likely. On Saturday, the maximum temperature is likely to be around 22 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature is eight degrees Celsius.

Kashmir is currently going through the period of 'Chillai-Kalan', which starts on December 21 and ends on January 30. During this period, snowfall is most likely and the mercury falls considerably. The Meteorological Department said that cloudy weather is likely till January 29. There is a possibility of light rain or snowfall at different places during the night of January 29 or the morning of January 30, after which the weather will remain partially normal.

The minimum temperature in Amritsar was recorded at 5.2 degrees Celsius while the minimum temperature in Pathankot was 5.7 degrees Celsius. It was extremely cold at night at both places.
