Shajapur. While people have become restless due to the increasing force of cold winds in the region, the farmers are worried about frost on the crops. At the same time, the Meteorological Department is saying that the weather will get even colder. This year, from the beginning of December, cold winds had engulfed the region, but now the cold winds have started tormenting. This is the reason that apart from nights, days are also proving to be chilly. Due to the continuously increasing cold, Thursday night was recorded as a very cold night and due to cold winds, a sheet of snow was seen spread in the fields on Friday morning. Weather expert Satyendra Dhanotiya said that due to the cold winds blowing at a high speed, the minimum temperature was recorded at 6.6 degrees. While the maximum temperature was 26.6 degrees. For now, the temperature will continue to fall.
The region is shivering due to cold winds
It is noteworthy that as the days of December are progressing, the intensity of cold winds is also increasing. To avoid the cold, bonfires are being lit at the squares and intersections as soon as the sun sets and people coming out of their homes are seen warming themselves by the bonfire. Weather expert Dhanotia says that the rustling of the north-western cold winds will continue to torment in the coming days and the night temperature may continue to fall. If this prediction of the weather department proves to be correct, then the Rabi crop may suffer heavy losses due to frost in the coming days. Especially the potato crop may be affected more.
Farmers are advised to protect themselves from frost
The current condition of Rabi crops in the district is good, but the continuously falling temperature and increasing cold in the last 2 to 3 days may harm the crops. There is a possibility of frost in the coming days and the night temperature may fall below 5 degrees centigrade. In such a situation, keeping this adverse situation in mind, senior scientist of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Dr. GR Ambavatia is giving proper advice and guidance to the farmers to save the crops from frost and cold. The agricultural scientist said that when the temperature continuously falls below 5 degrees centigrade, the water present inside the crops freezes, due to which the cell wall bursts and the liquid comes out. The plants wilt, this is called frost or cold burn. Due to frost, the plant-seed gets damaged and dies and farmers suffer losses. One should be alert about this in advance. Especially, measures should be taken to save potato, pea, mustard, chickpea and other vegetable crops. He has told the farmers that in case of frost, irrigation increases the temperature of the field by 0.5 degrees to 2 degrees. Considering the possibility of frost, irrigate the field lightly with sprinklers so that the soil remains wet. Do not water too much or too less. Frost can also be prevented by using some chemicals. Spray 500 grams of thiourea by dissolving it in 1000 liters of water. Sprinkling 8 to 10 kilograms of sulfur dust per acre or spraying 3 grams of vegetable or soluble sulfur by dissolving it in one liter of water has also been found to be an effective measure against frost. Along with this, burn damp grass or twigs for smoke in fields and gardens in such a way that the smoke forms a layer on the fields and the smoke remains on the crops and plants in the field, this creates a difference of 5 degrees in the temperature. Smoke at 6 to 8 places. If burnt engine oil or tires are burnt, there will be more smoke, this process is more effective if done after midnight.
