Indore, Commercial operations for the Metro from the Super Corridor to Radisson Square could not commence in June. Consequently, the three-month validity period granted by the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) for commercial operations expired on Wednesday. Metro management must now seek fresh approval from the CMRS to conduct another inspection of this route.

According to officials, Metro management will soon apply for a re-survey and inspection. It is likely that a CMRS team will visit Indore within the next month to re-inspect this section. Commercial operations from the Super Corridor to Radisson can only begin once a new No Objection Certificate (NOC) is issued following the inspection.

Discussions to be Held During Bhopal Visit

A CMRS team is scheduled to inspect the Bhopal Metro project's signaling system on Thursday. During this visit, Indore Metro officials will also meet the team to discuss the re-inspection of the Radisson corridor and the process for obtaining a new NOC.

If the CMRS re-inspection takes place in July, it is anticipated that commercial Metro operations on this route could begin by the end of the month or during the first fortnight of August.

Use of Controlled Blasting Technique at Underground Stations

Controlled blasting techniques are being employed due to the presence of hard rock formations encountered during the construction of underground Metro stations in the Airport, BSF, and Municipal Corporation areas. Adhering to safety protocols, a siren is sounded three times at intervals of 10 to 15 seconds to alert personnel before blasting occurs. A fourth siren is sounded after the blasting is complete and the area has been inspected and declared safe.

Residents of Chhota Ganpati Area Disturbed by Piling Noise

The proposed underground Metro station in the Chhota Ganpati area is being constructed using the NATM (New Austrian Tunnelling Method) technique. Under the project, piling work is to be carried out for 268 pillars at this site, with approximately 50 piles completed so far.

Local residents are troubled by the loud noise generated by the piling machines, as the site is located in a residential area. However, Metro authorities state that, in consideration of the residents' inconvenience, piling work is not being conducted in this area at night, thereby minimizing the disturbance to the public.
