Traffic Police Crack Down on Modified Silencers
54 'Firecracker-Sounding' Silencers Seized and Crushed on the Road
Khandwa, In a major crackdown on modified silencers, the traffic police in Khandwa seized and destroyed 54 loud (firecracker-style) silencers. The seized silencers, valued at approximately ₹2.5 lakh, were laid out on the road in front of the Municipal Corporation office and crushed by a road roller. A crowd gathered at the scene to witness the operation.
According to the traffic police, these modified silencers were causing noise pollution and creating a nuisance for the general public, the elderly, and patients. The loud noise also increases the risk of road accidents. In view of this, a special drive was launched to take action. Traffic DSP Anil Rai stated that 54 illegal modified silencers were seized during the campaign and subsequently destroyed using a road roller. He warned that if any motorist is found using loud modified silencers or pressure horns on 'Bullet' motorcycles or other vehicles in the future, they will face a fine, and the silencer will be seized and destroyed. The police have appealed to motorists to adhere to regulations and refrain from using devices that cause noise pollution.
