In West Bengal, the administration took major action against the alleged illegal construction of Abhishek Banerjee, the Trinamool Congress's national general secretary and Diamond Harbour MP, and began demolishing his five-story MP office. Three bulldozers were deployed to demolish the building, located on Amtala-Baruipur Road in South 24 Parganas district. The administration claims the building was constructed illegally and no satisfactory response was received to a previous notice, prompting the demolition action.

As soon as the action began, the political atmosphere in the area became heated. As soon as news of the bulldozers' arrival spread in the morning, a large number of locals gathered at the scene. BJP and Trinamool Congress workers also reached the scene, creating a tense situation. In response to the situation, the administration deployed additional police forces and tightened security.

The district administration claims that the building in question was constructed without the necessary approvals and valid documents. According to officials, the building was deemed illegal because construction documents could not be submitted. It was reported that a notice had been posted in this regard earlier, but the decision to demolish it was made after no response was received within the stipulated time.

This office had been closed since the assembly election results were announced. Previously, many important Trinamool Congress meetings and organizational activities in the Diamond Harbour area were conducted from this premises.

With this action, the ongoing administrative campaign against illegal construction and alleged encroachment on government land in West Bengal has taken a new political turn. Continuous action is being taken against alleged illegal structures and encroachments built during the previous government in the state.

Meanwhile, the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) has also issued demolition notices against 17 properties registered in the names of Abhishek Banerjee, his family members, and those associated with his company, Leaps and Bounds. Banerjee's residence, "Santiniketan," located on Harish Mukherjee Road, is among the properties served with notices, making the matter a topic of discussion at both political and legal levels.
