Motihari, Education Department's submersible boring scheme for providing pure drinking water to children in Motihari has become a loot scheme. Here, contractors are getting rich by putting inferior pipes in place of ISI brand pipes in connivance with vendors, HM and officials. On the other hand, officials are supporting the contractor's work with closed eyes. If the contractor is to be believed, the commission from the officer to the HM is fixed. In such a situation, there is no fear of any action. On the other hand, they have expressed their displeasure over the irregularities going on in the school. If the villagers are to be believed, no action is taken even after complaints about local pipes. If both the schemes are investigated in a detailed manner, then a big scam cannot be ruled out. On the other hand, JE told that the contractor is getting the work done without taking any scheme.

Pipes worth Rs. 400 are being used instead of Rs. 1500

The entire matter is related to Areraj block. The work of boring using substandard pipes is going on in full swing in schools including Upkramit Madhya Vidyalaya Barai Tola Purvi of Bahadurpur Panchayat of Areraj Block. If sources are to be believed, the estimate from one boring to connection is 2 lakh 40 thousand. In which ISI mark pipe is to be laid. But with the connivance of the officer, JE and HM, local pipes are being laid in place of ISI mark pipes.

If the hardware shopkeeper is to be believed, the price of one ISI mark pipe is 1500 rupees. Whereas the price of substandard pipe being used in boring is 400 to 500 rupees. Villagers said that no action is taken even after complaining about substandard pipes. On complaining, the contractor says that 30 percent commission is fixed for the JE, vendor and officer and 10 percent commission for the HM.

Motihari DPO SSA said that in the investigation of six schools in the work of school maintenance with booths for the elections, irregularities were found in 4. The work of two schools was good. Complaints have been received about substandard pipes in the boring. An investigation will be conducted within two days and strict action will be taken against the guilty. It was also said that the contractor fabricated the issue of commission to deceive the common people.
