So far, 23 people have died. Hundreds of people are still feared to be trapped in the debris. The army is planning to airlift the people trapped in the debris. For this, army helicopters have left for Wayanad. On the other hand, PM Modi and Rahul Gandhi, who was an MP from Wayanad, have expressed grief over this accident. PM Modi has also announced financial assistance of two lakhs each to the families of the deceased.

Due to continuous heavy rains in Wayanad, Kerala, 3 major landslides occurred in 4 hours early on Tuesday. Mundakkai, Choorlammala, Attmala and Noolpuzha came under the grip of the landslide. Hundreds of houses in these villages were destroyed by being buried under the debris due to the landslide. 200 houses have been damaged in Choorlamala alone.

6 bodies found floating in the river

According to Manorama News, local people told that villagers have found 6 bodies floating in the river in Attamala. At the same time, hundreds of people are still missing. Choorlamala has been the most affected by the landslide. Vehicles, shops and houses standing outside the houses here came under the grip of landslide.

Kerala State Disaster Management Authority KSDMA said that teams of fire force and NDRF have been deployed. Apart from this, more teams of NDRF are also reaching Wayanad. Apart from this, Kannur Defense Security Corps has also been ordered to go to Wayanad to help in the rescue. However, due to heavy rains, the rescue operation is also not able to run properly.

'PMO is closely monitoring the situation'

Union Minister of State for Fisheries George Kurien said that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Office (PMO) has ordered the Indian Air Force, Navy and Army stations in South India to help in rescue and relief operations in Wayanad. He said that the PMO is closely monitoring the situation and has assured the state government of all possible help. He said, both the central and state governments are working together to provide relief to the people of Wayanad.
