A boat carrying more than 101 people capsized in the sea near Gateway of India in Mumbai, Maharashtra. According to the information received, many people have been rescued so far in this accident, while the condition of five people is said to be critical. At the same time, 5 people are missing, whose search is going on. 13 passengers lost their lives in this accident. The deceased include 10 passengers and 3 Navy personnel. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has expressed grief over this accident and announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh each to the families of the deceased. Also, this matter will be jointly investigated by Mumbai Police and Indian Navy. President Draupadi Murmu has also expressed grief over the boat accident.

The boat suddenly capsized
According to media reports, the boat carrying more than 100 passengers was going from Mumbai to Elephanta Caves. The passenger boat suddenly overturned and started sinking in the sea after colliding with a speed boat near Uran. All the passengers including the crew on the boat fell into the sea and started trying to save their lives. A video of the incident has also surfaced, in which the boat can be seen sinking in the water and trying to save the passengers. Relief and rescue operations were started immediately after the accident.

CM Devendra Fadnavis expressed grief

Teams of Navy, Marine Police, Coast Guard and 108 Ambulance are present at the spot. According to reports, most of the passengers have been rescued safely, but one passenger died, and five people are still missing. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed grief over the incident and said that every effort is being made for rescue work. He tweeted that Navy, Police and Port teams have been immediately sent to the spot. The accident happened at 5:15 pm, when the boat was going towards Elephanta Caves. Rescue operations are underway and search is on for the missing passengers.
