New Delhi, The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has taken a big decision. The central bank has announced the withdrawal of Rs 2,000 note from circulation. RBI has advised banks to stop issuing Rs 2000 denomination notes with immediate effect. However, these bank notes will continue to be legal tender. This means that if you have a note of Rs 2,000, then its validity will remain.

RBI has instructed banks to exchange 2000 rupee notes by September 30, 2023. At one go, only notes worth a maximum of Rs 20,000 will be exchanged. Now banks will not issue Rs 2,000 notes.

Let us tell you that taking a big decision, RBI had announced demonetisation in the year 2016 and along with it, Rs 2,000 note was issued. This note is going to be out of circulation after 8 years.
