Big action in Puri stampede case
DM and SP transferred, government ordered investigation
Big action has been taken in the stampede case during Rath Yatra in Puri, Odisha. According to the information given by the Chief Minister's Office, the District Collector and SP of Puri have been transferred. Apart from this, DCP Vishnu Pati and Commandant Ajay Padhi have been suspended for negligence in duty. At the same time, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has announced financial assistance of Rs 25 lakh to the families of each deceased devotee. The Chief Minister has ordered a detailed administrative inquiry under the supervision of the Development Commissioner and has given instructions to transfer the District Collector and SP. Chanchal Rana has been appointed as the new District Collector, while Pinak Mishra has taken over as the new SP.
DGP gave statement
On the Puri Rath Yatra stampede case, Odisha DGP YB Khurania said, "As you can see, a large number of devotees have gathered and a large number of people are coming. This is more than in previous years. The incident that happened in the morning is being investigated. All the facts will come out as to why this happened." Earlier, DM Siddharth Swain said, "Today, from 4.20 to 5.40 am, 15 devotees were admitted to the district headquarters hospital. 12 of them were discharged after initial treatment. Postmortem of the three deceased is being done. After that the cause of death will be clear."
CM apologized to the devotees
On the other hand, CM Mohan Charan Majhi has apologized in Odia language on the social media platform 'X' for this accident. He said in a post on X, 'I and my government apologize to all Jagannath devotees. We express our condolences to the families of the devotees who lost their lives in the stampede.' Along with this, CM Majhi said that he prays to Mahaprabhu Jagannath to give him the strength to bear this sorrow. He also said that the security lapse will be investigated and strict action will be taken against those found guilty.
Three people died in the accident
Let us tell you that a case of stampede came to light in Puri, Odisha on Sunday morning. According to officials, the stampede near Sri Gundicha Temple took place around 4 am on Sunday. When hundreds of devotees had gathered near the temple to watch the Rath Yatra festival. 3 people have died in this stampede. Apart from this, about 50 other people are also reported to be injured. The Odisha government appointed senior bureaucrat Arvind Agarwal in charge of the overall monitoring of the Rath Yatra.
