Union Home Minister Amit Shah's visit to Balaghat has been canceled due to bad weather. Home Minister Shah's helicopter had to return to Raipur midway. The public meeting was addressed by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and state president of the party VD Sharma. Shah's visit was significant as it was being seen as an attempt by the BJP to woo tribal voters in Madhya Pradesh for the assembly elections due later this year. Amit Shah was to inaugurate the Gaurav Yatra after paying obeisance at the feet of Veerangana Rani Durgavati, which will be concluded by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Shahdol on June 27.

Five Yatra will reach Shahdol on 27th

On Thursday, apart from Balaghat, Gaurav Yatra started from Chhindwara, Singrampur, Jabera, Kalinjar Fort (Uttar Pradesh) and Kusmi. These yatras will reach Shahdol on June 27. Where the yatra will end in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Here PM will also participate in the program of sickle cell anemia. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off two Vande Bharat trains in Bhopal.

The goal is to make a strong hold in the tribal class

Amit Shah and Modi's visit to Madhya Pradesh was seen as BJP's message to the tribals that only BJP can do good for them. In fact, in the 2018 elections, the tribal voters had drifted away from the BJP. Out of 230 seats in the state, 47 seats are reserved for Scheduled Tribes. In these, Congress got 31 seats and BJP got 16 seats. The same reason was given behind the loss of the BJP government. Keeping this in mind, BJP has increased the focus on this class.

22 percent of the population of different tribes in the state

The total population of tribals in the state is about 22 percent. In this, the maximum number of Bhil-Bhilala 60 lakh, Gond 51 lakh, Sahariya 47 lakh and Korku and others 12 lakh. Out of this, the second largest tribe Gond mostly resides on the banks of river Narmada. Apart from this, Baiga and Korku are also more on this side. Their number is more in Shahdol, Mandla, Balaghat, Chhindwara, Betul, Narmadapuram.
