America cancels permits of 9 lakh migrants
VOrder to leave the country immediately; Biden administration had given this relief
Donald Trump administration in America has given a big blow to nine lakh migrants at once. These migrants came to America under the CBP One App policy started during the Biden administration. The Trump administration has overturned this policy and canceled the legal permits of these migrants and has asked them to leave America immediately. There is no information so far about any Indian being included in this.
From January 2023 to December last year, 936,500 people entered the US from the Mexican border using the CBP One app. They were allowed to stay in the US for two years with the right to work under the President's authority called parole. The Trump administration's Department of Homeland Security said that these paroles have now been canceled to keep the American people and the country's borders safe.
Officials confirmed that people who came to the US through the CBP One app were being informed about the cancellation of their permits via email, but did not provide information about how many such people were there. All these people have been asked to leave the US on their own. The Department of Homeland Security wrote in a notice sent to a Honduran family who entered the US late last year, "It is time for you to leave the United States." Some people have also shared related emails on social media. President Trump ended the CBP One app policy for new immigrants on the very first day of his term, leaving thousands of people stranded in Mexico, who had until early February to meet officials to get a permit under this scheme.
Trump ended many of Biden's policies
Trump overturned many of Biden's policies and ended the right to stay in America of those who benefited from them. The Department of Homeland Security said on Monday that Biden has pushed the US towards its worst border crisis in history by using the power of parole the most since it was formed in 1952. The department said last month that it was also canceling another type of parole, through which 5.32 lakh people from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua and Venezuela came to the US at their own expense. Its deadline is ending on 24 April.
Temporary protected status of 11 immigrants ended
The Trump administration has also announced the end of temporary protected status (TPS) for 6,00,000 Venezuelans and about 5,00,00 Haitians. However, a federal judge has temporarily stopped it, including about 3,50,000 Venezuelans, whose TPS status was to end on Monday itself. TPS is granted for 18 months to people who are already in the U.S. and whose countries are deemed unsafe for return due to natural disaster or civil conflict.
