Violence erupted in West Bengal's Murshidabad on Friday in protest against the Waqf (Amendment) Act. 3 people died due to this violence. Many people were seriously injured. Incidents of arson and vandalism also took place at various places in the district. The Home Ministry has come into action regarding the Murshidabad violence. The Union Home Ministry will send CRPF and RAF companies today to control the violence-affected area.
5 BSF companies will be sent
The Home Ministry has decided to send 5 BSF companies to the affected area. More than 400 soldiers are involved in this. So far, 300 BSF soldiers are deployed in two affected areas. A total of 700 soldiers will be deployed from Monday.
BSF fired 20-30 rounds of bullets in the air
BSF has recorded videos of violence-affected areas. It showed that petrol bombs were thrown at them. Face mapping will be done soon. BSF fired about 20-30 rounds from INSAS and pistols in the air so that no one gets injured and the rioters can be dispersed.
Report of violence sent to Home Ministry
A report has been sent to IG Karni Singh Shekhawat and ADG Ravi Gandhi regarding Murshidabad violence. The report with analysis on the situation in Murshidabad was sent to DG Daljit Singh and the same report has been sent to the Home Ministry.
Situation is being normalised in violence-affected area
Further analysis will be done this morning regarding more deployment of soldiers. Soldiers have been initially withdrawn from the border area to help the police. The situation is controlled, but unpredictable. BSF is trying to normalise the situation along with the police. Use of non-lethal weapons is the first priority to stop the violence.
