Saharanpur, in the new Lok Sabha, 280 MPs have been elected from all over India. It is a strange coincidence that all four MPs of Saharanpur division are also new. One of them, Harendra Malik, has previously been a member of Rajya Sabha and a member of Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly. Congress Lok Sabha member Imran Masood, elected from Saharanpur, has previously been a member of Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly in 2009. He is the nephew of veteran politician Rashid Masood. Imran Masood is a confidant of both Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi. During the last three years, he has returned to Congress via SP-BSP. Chandan Chauhan, elected from Muzaffarnagar Bijnor, was a RLD MLA from Meerapur seat. 29-year-old Iqra Hasan, elected from Kairana, has never been a member of any House before. A total of 24 Muslim MPs have been elected in the country. Iqra Hasan is one of them. Iqra Hasan belongs to an influential political family with top-level educational degrees. She is the kind of young MP that India's democracy needs. She says that in 2013, Muzaffarnagar district was scorched in Hindu-Muslim riots and as a result, the politics of polarization flourished. The issue of migration was also raised. She faces the challenge of brightening that image and empowering women. In support of her opinion, she says that she has received a lot of love and support from Muslims as well as Jat, Rajput, Gurjar, Saini and Dalit voters in the elections. She has studied international politics and law at the School of Oriental and African Studies in London. Imran Masood has given new wings to the hopes of Congress in Uttar Pradesh by entering the Lok Sabha. He has also got the support of Muslims as well as all castes and communities. From the third seat of the division, Muzaffarnagar, SP's Jat leader Harendra Malik has entered the Lok Sabha for the first time by defeating two-time BJP MP Dr. Sanjeev Baliyan. Harendra Malik has been a Rajya Sabha member once from the party of former Haryana Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala. He was brought into politics by Chaudhary Charan Singh in 1978. He has also been an MLA four times. He has done political journey in three political parties. Akhilesh Yadav has hopes from him that he will become the Jat face of SP in the West and will counter Jayant Chaudhary. Young Chandan Chauhan has emerged as the leader of Gurjars of Western Uttar Pradesh. He has a rich political heritage. His grandfather Chaudhary Narayan Singh was the first Deputy Chief Minister of UP. His father Sanjay Chauhan was an MLA and MP. The big responsibility of strengthening RLD in Western Uttar Pradesh has fallen on Chandan Chauhan's shoulders. RLD is known as a party of Jats, but with the addition of Gurjar caste due to Chandan Chauhan, this equation is very heavy in western Uttar Pradesh. BJP has benefited from this in many seats like Amroha, Meerut, Baghpat, Ghaziabad, Noida, Mathura in the recent elections. He understands his responsibility very well. 37-year-old Chandrashekhar Azad, a resident of Chhutmalpur, a small town in Saharanpur, has emerged as the new hero of Dalits. This time he entered the Lok Sabha for the first time by defeating the candidates of the three major parties SP, BJP and BSP from the Nagina reserved seat. In this way, Saharanpur actually has two MPs in the Lok Sabha. Imran Masood and Chandrashekhar. Both helped each other a lot in the elections. Chandrashekhar was elected as an independent. He will maintain equal distance from both the opposition and the ruling party in the Lok Sabha. His Azad Samaj Party has one crore members across the country. Seeing his acceptance and increasing attraction among Dalits, he will become a big challenge for BSP supremo Mayawati in the coming times.
