SP President Akhilesh Yadav will now do central politics. He has resigned from the membership of Karhal Assembly. He has been elected MP from Kannauj Lok Sabha seat. After this, he had to resign from a seat, so he left the Karhal seat. According to the Principal Secretary of the Assembly, Pradeep Dubey, this resignation has been received. The process of accepting will be completed soon. Earlier, SP MLA Lalji Verma has also resigned. Lalji Verma has also been elected a Lok Sabha member.

Akhilesh Yadav is also the Leader of Opposition in the UP Legislative Assembly. In such a situation, in the coming time, this post can be given to his uncle MLA Shivpal Singh Yadav or any one of the three PDA MLAs Ramachal Rajbhar, Indrajit Saroj and Kamal Akhtar.

Under the leadership of Akhilesh Yadav, SP has become the third largest party in the country. In the Lok Sabha elections 2024, SP has won 37 seats on its own in UP and a total of 43 seats along with India Alliance's ally Congress.
