Amid the uproar over lateral entry in UPSC, the central government has taken a big decision. Lateral recruitment has been banned on the instructions of PM Modi. Taking the decision to stop direct recruitment, the advertisement has been asked to be canceled. The Personnel Minister has written a letter to UPSC regarding this.

In fact, UPSC had issued an advertisement on August 17, in which 45 joint secretaries, deputy secretaries and director level recruitments were to be done through lateral entry. The controversy started after this advertisement came out. The opposition raised this issue strongly and accused it of ending reservation in government recruitment and talked about agitation against it.

Along with the opposition, the allies of the government were also raising questions about this advertisement of UPSC and asked to talk to the top leadership about it. Seeing the uproar in the opposition as well as in the coalition, the central government has finally ordered the cancellation of this advertisement of UPSC and has asked to stop any kind of direct recruitment in UPSC.
Seeing the controversy growing, PM Modi himself intervened in this matter and on the instructions of the PM, the advertisement of direct recruitment has been stopped. Union Personnel Minister Jitendra Singh has written a letter to the Chairman of UPSC and has asked to immediately stop the decision of lateral recruitment.
