Saharanpur. After an encounter with the police team of Saharanpur district's Kotwali Nagar police station, a wanted criminal in a robbery case was injured by a police bullet. The police arrested him and admitted him to the hospital for treatment. The police recovered illegal arms/cartridges and a motorcycle without number from the possession of the injured arrested criminal.

Under the direction of Senior Superintendent of Police Saharanpur, the district police is keeping its informer system active as well as doing intensive patrolling and checking continuously for the prevention of crime and arrest of criminals. In this sequence, this morning when the Kotwali Nagar police team was checking at the Numaish Camp, the police team received information from the informer that a vicious criminal is coming towards the Numaish Camp from Radha Vihar. As soon as the information was received, the police team immediately became active and then a suspicious person was seen coming on a motorcycle near the flax orchard. The police team signaled him to stop with the light of the torch, but he did not stop and turned the motorcycle back and started running. Due to which his motorcycle slipped and fell. When the police team reached near the suspect, the miscreant, seeing himself surrounded, opened fire on the police team with the intention of killing them. The police team also retaliated in self-defense, in which the miscreant got shot in the right leg. The injured miscreant was arrested from the spot. The injured/arrested miscreant has been identified as Fatehayab son Mehtab resident of Nakhasa Bazaar near Lakkhi Gate, Police Station Kotwali Nagar District Saharanpur (36 years). He has been admitted to the hospital for treatment. The arrested miscreant Fatehayab is a wanted accused in the incident of robbery of gold earrings from a woman near Super Star Gas Agency at the above mentioned Police Station Kotwali Nagar. The accused is also a history sheeter criminal of Kotwali Nagar police station and cases of theft, robbery etc. are registered against him in various police stations of the district. Further necessary action is being taken against the arrested accused.
