Activists Plant Trees Dedicated to Mothers on World Environment Day
Elected representatives, BJP workers, local residents, social workers, and environmental enthusiasts participated in the plantation drive
Indore, On World Environment Day, BJP workers and residents of Ward 49 planted trees in the green belt of Scheme No. 94 Ring Road as part of the "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" (A Tree in the Name of Mother) campaign.
BJP leader Shailendra Mahajan stated that the plantation program was held under the leadership of Rajesh Udawat—a member of the Mayor-in-Council (MIC) and Councilor of Ward 49. With the support of the Municipal Corporation, BJP workers, residents of Goyal Nagar, social workers, and environmental enthusiasts planted fruit-bearing, medicinal, and shade-providing saplings.
Speaking on the occasion, MIC member Rajesh Udawat remarked that World Environment Day holds special significance for India, as Indian culture regards nature as "Mother." The Vedas identify Earth, Water, Air, Fire, and Sky as the *Panchatattva* (five elements); thus, environmental conservation is considered both a religious and moral duty here. He added that continuous plantation drives under the "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" campaign would be undertaken to express respect for motherhood alongside environmental conservation efforts.
Participants in the plantation drive included Raja Kothari, Deepesh Palviya, Tirathpal Yadav, Pawan Bhargav, Rakesh Jain, Vikas Yadav, Vishwajeet Chauhan, Abhishek Soni, Pankaj Chauhan, Subodh Jain, Padam Jain Mittal, Kanhaiya Joshi, Munesh Sonkar, Rakesh Mehta, Girish Verma, Sonu Kaithwas, Ravi Yadav, Sumit Joshi, Vinay Borasi, Manoj Silawat, and Gaurav Jain, among others.
