Changes are being made in the operation of the mid-day meal scheme in the primary schools of Bihar. Instead of the headmaster or head teacher of the school, some other teacher will get the responsibility of the mid-day meal scheme. Under the pilot project, this arrangement will be in place in the schools of one block of each district from 13 May to 13 June. After reviewing this scheme, it will be implemented in all other schools.

In this regard, Additional Chief Secretary of Education Department Dr. S. Siddharth has sent a letter to all the District Education Officers and District Program Officers (MDM) on Wednesday. The Additional Chief Secretary has said that the headmaster or head teacher of the schools with pilot project will be completely separate from the operation of MDM.

Their main task will be the smooth operation of the educational activities of the school. The teacher in charge of the mid-day meal scheme will take photographs of the attendance of the children only one hour after the school starts. Food grains and other materials will be provided to the cook for preparing mid-day meal as per the number of children.
