Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) announced ambitious plans to contest all 90 seats in the 2024 Haryana Assembly elections
AAP's bold move: Fighting Haryana elections alone and its impact on opposition alliances
New Delhi. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday confirmed that it will contest all 90 seats in the 2024 Haryana Assembly elections. Senior party leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sandeep Pathak said, “Haryana assembly elections are to be held next year, AAP is now a national party. We are developing our organization in all the states, while in Haryana it is ready at the circle level. The party will form village-level committees in the next 15 days, after which we will start our campaign in Haryana.”
AAP's decision to go alone in the Haryana elections is certainly being seen as a big blow to the opposition alliance 'Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance' (India) and Congress. Before this, AAP's discord with the country's oldest party has also come to the fore in Delhi and Punjab.
In the 2019 assembly elections, Aam Aadmi Party had failed to open its account even after fielding candidates on 46 seats. Pathak also answered questions about the agenda of the upcoming meeting of the opposition group 'India' to be held on September 13. Sandeep Pathak said, “Every issue will be discussed in detail in the next meeting. “Although I am not aware of the agenda of the meeting, all issues including selection of candidates and campaign planning for the Lok Sabha elections 2024 will be discussed in the meeting.”
This decision by the Aam Aadmi Party to contest all the seats in the Haryana Assembly elections has come a few days after the war of words between its party chief Arvind Kejriwal and Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on the issue of election promises.
