37 deaths due to poisonous liquor in Bihar so far
2 policemen suspended, 21 arrested including 7 women
Patna, Two policemen have been suspended in connection with the deaths due to consumption of poisonous liquor in Siwan, Saran and Gopalganj districts of Bihar. 21 people have been arrested, including seven women. Officials gave this information on Sunday (20 October). It was informed that a total of 37 people have lost their lives so far in three districts.
In this entire case, the in-charge of Mashrakh police station and another police officer posted at Bhagwanpur outpost have been suspended for negligence in duty in the case of deaths due to consumption of suspected poisonous liquor in their jurisdiction. Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) of Saran Range Nilesh Kumar told 'PTI-Bhasha', "The administration of Siwan and Saran districts has already suspended three chowkidars of Maghar, Auria and Ibrahimpur areas after the incident." Siwan has the highest number of deaths due to poisonous liquor at 28. Siwan has the highest number of deaths due to poisonous liquor. Since October 16, 28 people have died in Siwan district's Maghar and Auria panchayats. Seven people have died in Ibrahimpur area under Masrakh police station area of Saran. Two people have died in Gopalganj due to consumption of liquor. Thus, a total of 37 people have died in three districts. 13 people arrested in Siwan and 8 in Saran In this entire case, the DIG said, "The police have arrested 21 accused (13 in Siwan and eight in Saran) in connection with the deaths due to consumption of liquor. Seven of them are women, who were part of the manufacturing and supply chain of illicit liquor in both the districts. We have also traced transactions worth several lakhs of rupees related to the manufacture and supply of illicit liquor in these districts and have collected important digital evidence in this regard." He further said, "A separate case will be registered against the accused under the provisions of the Money Laundering Act by the competent authority. Immediately after the suspected poisonous liquor tragedy in three districts, the police are conducting searches in their respective jurisdictions."
